Abortion Recovery

Support After Your Abortion

Life After Abortion

Each person is different and each person’s experience with abortion is unique. Some people feel emotional side-effects immediate while others might not experience those side-effects until months or even years later. Some women may feel nothing at all.

You may be feeling a wide range of emotions after an abortion experience: relief, shame, regret, denial, numbness, anger, anxiety, sadness, or depression. It is important to remember that you are entitled to the emotions that you are feeling in regards to your specific abortion experience. You do not have to hide them, suppress them, or be afraid to share them.

Family, Friends, and Others Affected by Abortion

Family members, boyfriends, spouses and friends who may have been affected by another person’s abortion choice might also be feeing a wide variety of the emotions listed above along with helplessness, regret, or blame. Your feelings in regards to another person’s abortion are both valid and important.

No matter how you might be coping with your abortion or the abortion of someone else, many people find it helpful to talk through their experiences and feelings in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. There is help, healing and hope with no shame or judgement available to anyone affected by abortion. It is important to remember that you are not alone. If you are just now walking through your after-abortion journey, or it was a long time ago, it is never too soon or too late for you to discuss your decision with someone who understands and it willing to listen.

Help, Healing, and Hope

We are here to provide you with support and care after your abortion experience. This can take place in either individual or group settings, whichever option you feel most comfortable with. Everything is confidential and no one is notified when you contact us. For increased confidentiality, we can even assist you in finding support outside of your local area for your comfort in increased confidentiality. Your privacy is very important to us and, as always, our services will always remain free.

If you make the decision to discuss your abortion in a one-on-one setting, you will confidentially meet with someone who has been trained to support men and women in your situation who have been affected by abortion with compassion.

If you make the decision to participate in a group setting, you will meet with others who have similar experiences and stories. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. You will receive both love and support from others who have been in your situation and understand what you are going through.

We are here because we understand the factors that have contributed to your choice for an abortion. We care about your happiness, health and well-being.

Speaking out about your abortion experience can change how you view the decision that you have made and can help to give you the courage to live in freedom. There is nothing to lose in calling us. All of our services are free and we are here day or night.
